CARLYN HENDLER
Biography
A native of Austin TX, flutist Carlyn Hendler enjoys pursuing her musical passions which include performing, teaching, and specializing as a Straubinger Certified Flute Repair Technician. From 2016 to 2019 Carlyn was appointed as piccolo/3rd flute of the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra and makes appearances with the Omaha Symphony flute section as a dependable and expressive substitute. Ms. Hendler made her concerto debut in 2015 with Omaha's Heartland Philharmonic Orchestra in a performance of Lowell Liebermann's Concerto for Piccolo. Carlyn appeared as a guest performer on Sing Out and Be Heard through TEDxUNO, and twice with the British band Mumford & Sons. Ms. Hendler's additional education includes an internship with KVNO and attending Project Trio's The Studio and The Camp in New York.
Ms. Hendler earned her BA in flute performance at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Her previous teachers include Maria Harding, Dr. Christine Beard, and Seetha Shivaswamy. Ms. Hendler now resides in the Lubbock, TX area. In her free time she enjoys being involved in the community. She continues teaching flute and piccolo while incorporating contemporary improvisation
techniques and beatboxing. Carlyn is an advocate of improvisation and believes it is something everyone should explore.
